Dave Deeks: Four Walls
Four walls surround me, cold and bare
With memories of what once was there
Echoes of the past resound
Now only emptiness I have found
No sound except a ticking clock
Nothing to touch, no solid rock
I sit alone and guard my space
The world outside is too hard to face
No windows, and no ways to leave
The hours pass as I sit and grieve
No worse place, no worse distress
Than this cold dark room and such loneliness
Four walls, four walls
I sit alone in these four walls
Moment by moment ticks away
I face another grey and dismal day
Not daring to hope my worry, hurt and pain
Might pass away and I'll be free again
Four walls, four walls
The loneliness of these four walls
Four walls, four walls
Please help me Lord in these four walls
Then through the darkness comes a light
Dim at first, but now burning bright
I feel such Love and see the Saviour's face
He is with me in this holy place!
Four walls, four walls
I'm not alone
In these four walls!
Four walls, four walls
My pain has gone
In these four walls!
I'm not alone
In these four walls
