I am a man without a reason, I am a heart without a soul
I am a month without a season, I am half instead of whole
I have a memory of nothing, I have no hope of what's to come
Where there's no hope there's only longing, I am a sad and lonely one

For what is life if this is all it means
High as a kite - that's where heaven seems
Yet a thread so fine seems to keep drawing me towards the place where I know I should be

While those with power all abuse it, and those who follow pay the price
I have a dream of one who used it to become a sacrifice
In this dream I see a picture of a death upon a cross
While the wealthy all get richer, and many starve and then are lost

For what is life if this is all it means

Maybe there is a God in heaven and He's the one who pulls the strings
Well if there is a God in heaven there's one thing I'd say to Him
